Kate In Love

Kate and Ned met through Ned’s uncle Richard Branson in 2011. It is said that the couple met during a vacation on a Caribbean island owned by Richard Branson. During their vacation Kate rescued Richard’s mother Eve from a fire that was started by lightning storm.

The couple became engaged during the summer of 2012 and married in a private ceremony in 2012 that was attended "by her two children and a very few friends and family"

Ned & Kate welcomed their first child together, Bear Winslet, on December 7, 2013 at NHS Hospital in Sussex County.

Ned is the Head of Marketing Promotion and Astronaut Experience for Virgin Galatic.

SAM MENDES (2003-2010)
Kate & Sam met in August of 2001 when he talked to her about an opportunity to work together on a theatre project that he was directing in London. “We had this exciting meeting. I walked away dazzled, thinking, ‘What the hell was that?’ It was this overwhelming feeling—this hope you always have that you will meet a man exactly like him. I knew this was the person I was meant to be with. I was terrified. I didn’t tell anyone I had this feeling, not even my mum. I had no idea if Sam felt anything for me. We met again, quite by accident, months later at a barbecue in London that a friend was having. Sam made it clear that he wanted me to act on my feelings. He felt the same way I did.”

A few months later the couple started dating. They made their first public appearance together at the movie premiere of her film Iris.

The couple were married on May 24, 2003 while on holiday in the West Indies at Barnes Bay in Anguilla. The wedding was spontaneous and the only people there were Kate’s daughter Mia and three other witnesses. Kate has said about their wedding, "We hadn’t been planning to do it but we thought it was rather a good idea, so we just did it."

The couple welcomed Joe Alfie Winslet Mendes who was born on December 22, 2003 in New York. “I love being married to Sam and I love motherhood more than anything. It’s like it’s the whole reason for my existence now. Sam’s a wonderful dad. We have a beautiful, healthy son.”

Kate has said about Sam, "My husband is so brilliant, and he is an excellent dad."

Sam directed Kate in the film "Revolutionary Road" in

Unfortunately on March 16, 2010 Kate and Sam announced their split to the press. "Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year," their lawyers say in a statement. "The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement. Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children."

"He’s a good man. You can say I said that with a large smile on my face."
– Kate told people when interviewed at the Iris premiere
"I have nothing to hide and want to make sure the truth is clearly stated about us. Yes, we are having a relationship. It is very early days and we’re very happy."
– Sam
"We’re very happy, unbelievably happy. It’s one of those unexplainable things that we’re together."
– Kate about her relationship with Sam
"Doing things on a whim, taking risks – I definitely have that side. It drives Sam mad."
– Kate
“I believe in fate. I know it sounds corny, but it was like Sam and I were from the same tribe. We were meant to meet: Both of us from Reading, both born in the same tiny hospital, Dellwood. Then suddenly, years later, this totally gorgeous, sexy, talented man is in my life? That’s fate."
– Kate
“Oh, lucky, lucky us, to be so genuinely happy.”
– Kate
Kate met in 1997 while on the set of her film Hideous Kinky where he was 3rd Assistant Director. "I arrived in Morocco and saw this rather glorious looking blonde boy with fantastic blue eyes and I just went ‘S**t!’ because I knew that was it. And there was nothing either of us could do about it."

The couple were married on November 22, 1998 at the Anglican All Saints’ Church in Reading, England. Kate’s white wedding dress was designed by Alexander McQueen. The wedding reception was held at the Crooked Billet in Stoke Row where they served bangers and mash.

The couple welcomed daughter Mia Honey Threapleton on October 12, 2000.

The couple announced their seperation on September 3, 2001 with a statement that read: "Kate Winslet and Jim Threapleton announced today that they have decided to separate. No other parties are involved in this amicable and respectful separation. Their daughter Mia will remain first priority for both of them."

The divorce was finalized on December 13, 2001. Kate said at the time "Jim and I have great respect for each other. There is no malice at all. It is extremely sad but we are all fine."

"When you know it’s the right thing, you know. I knew instantly, I thought yep, I’ll have that."
– Kate about marrying Jim
"I really fancy him. He is so dashing and he makes me laugh my head off."
– Kate about Jim
‘It didn’t factor. I mean we’re hardly in the same game. Sam is highly acclaimed, quite rightly so, but it wasn’t "Oh shit, this guy, the director of American Beauty, is eclipsing everything I ever wanted." I have nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for his work, and subsequently I’ve found out over the years that he’s a fantastic person to be in Mia’s life. The hardest thing with divorce when children are involved is working out how the new relationship will work. You are obligated to generate new terms of friendship quickly, and I had beers with Sam as soon as possible so that there was never going to be this sense that we couldn’t talk.’
– Jim when asked about Kate marrying Sam who was also a film director
